Cheesecake Factory

South park Mall in Charlotte, NC

We decided to go to Charlotte on this date night. I absolutely love Cheesecake Factory. You have to get on the reservation list or you will have to wait forever though.

Terry ordered meatloaf with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He said his food was good and the portion was very large.

I ordered Steak Diane with mashed potatoes. It was delicious! I have ordered this twice and it doesn't disappoint. I want to go back soon and order again.

For dessert, we got cheesecake of course. Terry got an original cheesecake with strawberries. I got the Hershey cheesecake. Both of them were so good, but we were stuffed!

Every time we have eaten here, it has been good. We only waited 10 minutes to be seated and our food came within 20 minutes. We give them 5/5! Delish!

Duke's Restaurant and Wine Bar

335 Main Ave SW, Hickory, NC 28602

On date night, we stayed in Hickory this week. We visited the Market on Main area and dined at this establishment. We were immediately seated at a very small table. I was surprised by how dark it was inside and there was a live musician. It had a very nice atmosphere and was a pretty restaurant.

I could barely see the menu. I had to turn on my phone flashlight then and every time my food came. We started out with soup or salad. I chose wrong. Terry had a crab/corn chowder and I had a salad with fig, goat cheese, and strawberry vinaigrette. Goat cheese was very gross to me and Terry. His soup was good though.

He ordered Charleston crab cakes with mashed potatoes. They were big and tasted good. The mustard sauce that was on them was not good and he could only eat one though. He had Coke with his meal and they brought that to the table in a can. We thought that was weird for a fine dining restaurant.

I ordered Filet Mignon with soft crab on top with mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium well and it came medium rare. The crab still had all the legs attached as well. So, it felt like a science lab experiment dissecting my food. I could have ordered better, but I tried their special.
See how dark it was?
We decided to give this restaurant a 3/5. It was too dark and the food wasn't that great. They did not have Coke Zero either. If you eat here, eat during the daylight hours. Don't order what we did because some of the other menu items sounded good.

Eddie's on Lake Norman

643 Williamson Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117

On date night Saturday this week, we decided to go to Lake Norman. We like to visit there a lot. We decided to try another place on the lake. It was dark, so we couldn't really see the lake, but I could tell it would be really nice during the day.

                               At night when we went
                               During the day
                               Inside the restaurant

The restaurant had a bar feel to it and there were a few birthday parties going on while we were there. So, it was kind of loud. After the parties left, it became tolerable in there. On the sound system inside the restaurant, it was late 80s and early 90s rock which we enjoy. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. Our drink order was taken soon after we sat down. But, they didn't have Coke Zero. Our food came after about a 20 minute wait.

I ordered Filet Mignon, broccoli, and a baked potato. My steak was pretty good. The broccoli was steamed, but the potato tasted old.

Terry ordered Crab cakes with vegetables. He really liked his food. His broccoli tasted different than mine and had more seasoning.

We decided to give this place 3/5. If my potato had not been old and they had Coke Zero, it would have been 4/5. It is definitely worth a visit and I think we might go back during daylight hours. It is always a fun time with Terry though! 😀

Fatz

975 Blowing Rock Blvd,  Lenoir, NC 28645

Terry and I had an afternoon lunch on Sunday, August 22, 2021. We decided to eat at Fatz because our Sunday drive led us to Lenoir, NC and we haven't been out that way in a while. We arrived around 3 pm and were immediately seated. My menu was sticky and got my hand sticky right off the bat which annoyed me.

Our waiter was a nice, young man and reminded me of my son, Storm. We placed our order and it came about 20 minutes later. Our hot rolls arrived first that they give everyone. Those were really good.

So, I decided to get the Pulled Pork Sandwich and a side salad. They had my favorite dressing, Thousand Island, but the side salad was basic. I have had other side salads that were delightful, so I know they could do better. The sandwich was good though.

Terry had the shrimp platter with broccoli and cheese. He was not pleased with his food. His shrimp was pretty bland and his cheese on the broccoli didn't taste good. It seemed of cheap quality. Our meal price was similar to the price of our meal at Carrabbas which is highly disappointing for the quality of the meal we received.

They did not have Coke Zero which is a must for me because that is what I drink. The restaurant appearance was just average as well. The waiter provided excellent customer service. So our rate for this place was 2/5. Save your money and go to Hickory. Lenoir is lacking in quality restaurants that are not fast food.

 Toucan Lakefront Restaurant

167 Pinnacle Ln Mooresville, NC 28117

Terry and I ate at this establishment on August 8th, 2021. We had about a 15 minute wait at 1 pm and were there for about an hour. We had the view of Lake Norman and the inside of the restaurant was so cute. I loved all the palm trees!

We started out with crab cakes because that is our favorite appetizer when we visit a lot of places. Their crab cakes were delicious and did not disappoint! I think Terry mentioned he would go back just for the crab cakes next time. haha

I ordered the lobster salad wrap with grilled asparagus. Terry ordered the seafood platter with mashed potatoes. My food was good and Terry liked his as well. The lobster salad reminded me of chicken salad. My asparagus was a little tough to cut, but was seasoned perfectly. Terry's only complaint was that the seafood was so big. They did not have Coke Zero and that is what I drink though.

My rate is 4/5
